कोलंबो में खेले गए मुकाबले ने सुपर एट्स ग्रुप-2 की दिशा बदल दी है। न्यूजीलैंड ने सह-मेजबान श्रीलंका को 61 रन से हराकर टूर्नामेंट से बाहर कर दिया। इस जीत का असर सिर्फ श्रीलंका तक सीमित नहीं रहा, बल्कि पाकिस्तान की सेमीफाइनल उम्मीदें भी इससे जुड़ गई हैं।
169 रन के लक्ष्य का पीछा करते हुए श्रीलंका की टीम 107/8 तक ही पहुंच सकी। उन्हें बड़ी जीत की दरकार थी, लेकिन बल्लेबाजी पूरी तरह लड़खड़ा गई। बता दें कि 2014 में खिताब जीतने के बाद से यह लगातार पांचवां अवसर है जब श्रीलंका सेमीफाइनल में जगह बनाने में नाकाम रहा है।
दूसरी ओर न्यूजीलैंड की इस जीत से उसका नेट रन रेट +3.050 तक पहुंच गया है, जो उसे फिलहाल मजबूत स्थिति में रखता है। गौरतलब है कि इंग्लैंड पहले ही सेमीफाइनल के लिए क्वालीफाई कर चुका है। अब ग्रुप से दूसरे स्थान के लिए आखिरी दो मुकाबले निर्णायक साबित होंगे।
मौजूदा अंकतालिका के अनुसार इंग्लैंड के 4 अंक हैं और वह शीर्ष पर है। न्यूजीलैंड के 3 अंक हैं, जबकि पाकिस्तान के 1 अंक हैं। पाकिस्तान को अपना अंतिम मुकाबला श्रीलंका के खिलाफ कैंडी में खेलना है।
समीकरण साफ है। अगर न्यूजीलैंड अपने आखिरी मैच में इंग्लैंड को हरा देता है, तो वह 5 अंकों के साथ सीधे सेमीफाइनल में पहुंच जाएगा। उस स्थिति में पाकिस्तान का मैच अप्रासंगिक हो जाएगा।
हालांकि पाकिस्तान की उम्मीदें तब जिंदा रहेंगी जब इंग्लैंड न्यूजीलैंड को पराजित करे। उस हालात में न्यूजीलैंड 3 अंकों पर रहेगा और यदि पाकिस्तान श्रीलंका को हरा देता है, तो दोनों टीमों के 3-3 अंक हो जाएंगे। तब फैसला नेट रन रेट के आधार पर होगा।
मौजूद गणनाओं के अनुसार यदि इंग्लैंड न्यूजीलैंड को 50 रन से हराता है, तो पाकिस्तान को लगभग 20 रन से जीत दर्ज करनी होगी, बशर्ते पहली पारी का स्कोर 170 के आसपास हो। अगर पाकिस्तान लक्ष्य का पीछा करता है, तो उसे करीब 17.5 ओवर में जीत हासिल करनी होगी, अन्यथा नेट रन रेट में पीछे रह सकता है।
गौरतलब है कि सुपर एट्स में इंग्लैंड का प्रदर्शन प्रभावशाली रहा है, जिससे अंकतालिका काफी हद तक स्पष्ट हुई है। लेकिन श्रीलंका की विदाई ने अंतिम सेमीफाइनल स्थान की जंग को बेहद रोमांचक बना दिया है।
अब पाकिस्तान के सामने दोहरी चुनौती है, पहले श्रीलंका के खिलाफ बड़ी जीत दर्ज करना और फिर इंग्लैंड से अनुकूल परिणाम की उम्मीद करना। कुल मिलाकर सेमीफाइनल की आखिरी तस्वीर अंतिम मैचों के बाद ही साफ होगी और फिलहाल सभी की निगाहें कोलंबो और कैंडी में होने वाले मुकाबलों पर टिकी हुई हैं।
