भारत के ऑलराउंडर हार्दिक पंड्या खेलने की स्वीकृति मिलने के कुछ घंटे बाद बुधवार को अफगानिस्तान के खिलाफ तीन मैच की एकदिवसीय श्रृंखला से बाहर हो गए जब उनकी जांघ की मांसपेशियों में खिंचाव आ गया।
पंड्या बेंगलुरु में भारतीय क्रिकेट बोर्ड (बीसीसीआई) के सेंटर ऑफ एक्सीलेंस (सीओई) में अपनी पीठ की ऐंठन की चोट से उबरने के बाद खेलने की मंजूरी लेने गए थे।
यह चोट उन्हें आईपीएल में मुंबई इंडियन्स के लिए खेलते समय लगी थी।
हो सकता है कि यह नई चोट सीओई में आकलन के दौरान पूरे 10 ओवर की गेंदबाजी करने की वजह से लगी हो।
अफगानिस्तान के खिलाफ एकदिवसीय श्रृंखला शनिवार को धर्मशाला में शुरू होगी। इसके बाद लखनऊ और चेन्नई में क्रमशः 17 और 20 जून को दो अन्य मैच खेले जाएंगे।
बीसीसीआई के एक सूत्र ने कहा, ‘‘उन्हें ठीक होने में तीन हफ्ते लगेंगे इसलिए उनके एकदिवसीय श्रृंखला में खेलने की कोई संभावना नहीं है क्योंकि उनका रिहैबिलिटेशन पूरा नहीं हो पाएगा।’’
पंड्या आईपीएल में मुंबई इंडियन्स के लिए कुछ मैच नहीं खेल पाए थे लेकिन 24 मई को राजस्थान रॉयल्स के खिलाफ टीम के आखिरी मैच में वापसी की थी।
इस 32 साल के ऑलराउंडर को यह नई चोट ऐसे समय में लगी है जब अगले साल होने वाले एकदिवसीय विश्व कप को ध्यान में रखते हुए उन्हें अधिक एकदिवसीय क्रिकेट खेलने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया जा रहा है।
एकदिवसीय विश्व कप 2023 में बांग्लादेश के खिलाफ पहले दौर के मैच के दौरान पंड्या के बाएं टखने में लगी चोट ने टीम का संतुलन बिगाड़ दिया था।
दक्षिण अफ्रीका में 2027 में होने वाले एकदिवसीय विश्व कप के लिए भारत की योजनाओं में पंड्या अहम बने हुए हैं।
अफगानिस्तान के खिलाफ तीन मैच की श्रृंखला और फिर अगले महीने इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ भी इतने ही मैच की श्रृंखला के लिए पंड्या को मैच फिट रखने के मकसद से उन्हें भारत की टी20 टीम से बाहर रखा गया है जबकि वह इस प्रारूप में दो बार विश्व कप जीतने वाली टीम का हिस्सा रहे हैं।
