आईपीएल फ्रेंचाइजी राजस्थान रॉयल्स के मालिकाना हक में बड़ा बदलाव हुआ है। दुनिया के दिग्गज स्टील कारोबारी लक्ष्मी निवास मित्तल और आदित्य मित्तल ने इस टीम को खरीद लिया है। इस बड़ी डील में सीरम इंस्टीट्यूट के अदार पूनावाला भी उनके पार्टनर के तौर पर शामिल हैं।
आईपीएल इतिहास की सबसे बड़ी डील इस सौदे की कुल वैल्यू करीब 1.65 बिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर (लगभग 15,660 करोड़ रुपए) आंकी जा रही है, जो इसे आईपीएल के इतिहास के सबसे महंगे निवेशों में से एक बनाता है। डील फाइनल होने के बाद मित्तल परिवार के पास राजस्थान रॉयल्स की 75% हिस्सेदारी होगी। वहीं, अदार पूनावाला के पास 18% और मनोज बडाले व अन्य निवेशकों के पास बाकी 7% हिस्सेदारी रहेगी।
ग्लोबल क्रिकेट ब्रांड बनी राजस्थान रॉयल्स यह सौदा केवल भारतीय आईपीएल टीम तक सीमित नहीं है। राजस्थान रॉयल्स अब एक अंतरराष्ट्रीय ब्रांड बन चुकी है, इसलिए इस डील में दक्षिण अफ्रीका की 'पार्ल रॉयल्स' और कैरेबियन लीग की 'बारबाडोस रॉयल्स' की ओनरशिप भी शामिल है। टीम के पुराने प्रमोटर मनोज बडाले नए मैनेजमेंट के साथ जुड़े रहेंगे ताकि टीम के संचालन में पुराना अनुभव काम आ सके।
सितंबर 2026 तक पूरी होगी प्रक्रिया हालांकि मित्तल परिवार और पूनावाला के साथ यह सौदा तय हो चुका है, लेकिन इसे अभी बीसीसीआई और आईपीएल गवर्निंग काउंसिल जैसी संस्थाओं से मंजूरी मिलना बाकी है। उम्मीद जताई जा रही है कि सभी कानूनी और नियामक प्रक्रियाएं पूरी होने के बाद सितंबर 2026 तक यह डील पूरी तरह संपन्न हो जाएगी।
पुराने समझौते का क्या हुआ? इससे पहले अमेरिकी बिजनेसमैन काल सोमानी और उनके ग्रुप ने 1.63 बिलियन डॉलर की रिकॉर्ड बोली लगाकर फ्रेंचाइजी खरीदने की कोशिश की थी। उन्हें एक्सक्लूसिविटी भी मिल गई थी, लेकिन किन्हीं कारणों से वह सौदा सिरे नहीं चढ़ सका। अब मित्तल परिवार के बोर्ड में शामिल होने से राजस्थान रॉयल्स को नई मजबूती मिलने की उम्मीद है।
