क्रिकेट के ओलंपिक में शामिल होने के बाद क्रिकेट फैंस काफी उत्साहित हैं। वहीं आईसीसी के मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी संजोग गुप्ता ने इसे लेकर अब बड़ी जानकारी दी है। दरअसल, संजोग गुप्ता ने बताया है कि 2028 में होने वाले ओलंपिक खेलों में क्रिकेट प्रतियोगिता लॉस एंजिलिस नाइट राइडर्स के होम ग्राउंड पर आयोजित की जाएगी, जिसका गुरुवार 23 अप्रैल को शिलान्यास होगा। बता दें कि, लॉस एंजिलिस नाइट राइडर्स आईपीएल की केकेआर फ्रेंचाइजी की सिस्टर फ्रेंचाइजी है।
इस दौरान संजोग गुप्ता ने कहा कि, ये इतिहास का एक अहम पल है क्योंकि आज हम जिस चीज की नींव रख रहे हैं वह सिर्फ एक क्रिकेट मैदान नहीं है। हम एक वादे की नींव रख रहे हैं। एक ऐसा वादा जिसे पूरा करने में 128 साल लगे।
अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ओलंपिक समिति ने क्रिकेट को लॉस एंजिलिस खेलों में शामिल करने की मंजूरी दी है और गुप्तान ने कहा है कि इससे इस खेल के बढ़ते प्रभाव का पता चलता है। उन्होंने कहा कि, दुनिया का दूसरा सबसे लोकप्रिय खेल इतने लंबे समय से ओलंपिक मंच से गायब रहा। जब अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ओलंपिक समिति ने लॉस एंजिलिस 2028 खेलों में क्रिकेट को शामिल करने की औपचारिक मंजूरी दी तो ये केवल घोषणा मात्र नहीं थी। इससे इस बात का पता चलता है कि ओलंपिक में उन खेलों को बढ़ावा दिया जाना चाहिए जिन्हें अरबों लोग पसंद करते हैं।
संजोग गुप्ता ने पोमोना स्थिति क्रिकेट स्थल का जिक्र करते हुए कहा कि इसकी विरासत इसे क्रिकेट की ओलंपिक में वापसी के लिए एक आदर्श स्थान बनाती है। उन्होंने कहा कि इस वादे को पूरा करने के लिए पोमोना से बेहतर किसी अन्य जगह के बारे में मैं सोच भी नहीं सकता। खेल जगत में सबसे अच्छी चीजें तब होती हैं जब महत्वाकांक्षा औऱ समुदाय का मिलन होता है। पोमोना में ये दोनों ही मौजूद हैं। ये स्थल अब एक ऐसे खेल की मेजबानी करेगा जो अपने मूल में ही समुदाय से जुड़ा हुआ है।
