भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम के मुख्य चयनकर्ता अजीत अगरकर ने भारतीय क्रिकेट कंट्रोल बोर्ड (बीसीसीआई) से 2027 वनडे विश्व कप तक अपना कार्यकाल बढ़ाने का अनुरोध किया है। 2025 चैंपियंस ट्रॉफी और 2024 टी20 विश्व कप जीतने के बाद, आईपीएल 2025 से ठीक पहले अगरकर का अनुबंध एक साल के लिए बढ़ा दिया गया था। टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया के मुताबिक उनके अनुरोध पर बातचीत चल रही है, लेकिन अभी तक कोई ठोस नतीजा नहीं निकला है। पश्चिमी जोन के एक और पूर्व भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम के खिलाड़ी को अगरकर के उत्तराधिकारी के रूप में सबसे आगे बताया जा रहा था, लेकिन इस मामले में भी कोई प्रगति नहीं हुई है। माना जा रहा है कि यह अनुरोध सही समय पर आया है, क्योंकि यह 2026 टी20 विश्व कप की जीत के ठीक बाद आया है।
