चेन्नई में क्रिकेट का जुनून किसी उत्सव से कम नहीं माना जाता है। आईपीएल के आगामी सत्र से पहले चेन्नई की टीम में बड़े बदलाव किए गए हैं, जिससे शहर और प्रशंसकों के बीच नई उम्मीद पैदा हो गई है।
गौरतलब है कि लंबे समय से टीम की पहचान रहे महेंद्र सिंह धोनी अब अपने करियर के अंतिम चरण में माने जा रहे हैं। ऐसे में टीम मैनेजमेंट भविष्य को ध्यान में रखते हुए नई पीढ़ी को आगे लाने की तैयारी करता दिखाई दे रहा है।
इसी क्रम में संजू सैमसन के टीम से जुड़ने को काफी अहम माना जा रहा है। मौजूद जानकारी के अनुसार सैमसन को पिछले वर्ष हुए प्लेयर एक्सचेंज के दौरान टीम में शामिल किया गया था। इसके बदले टीम को अनुभवी ऑलराउंडर रवींद्र जडेजा से अलग होना पड़ा था।
गौरतलब है कि इस फैसले को उस समय बड़ा कदम माना गया था क्योंकि इसके साथ ही इंग्लैंड के खिलाड़ी सैम करन को भी टीम से बाहर करना पड़ा था। हालांकि टीम प्रबंधन का मानना था कि सैमसन जैसे खिलाड़ी भविष्य में टीम की नई पहचान बन सकते हैं।
संजू सैमसन हाल के समय में अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर भी शानदार प्रदर्शन कर चुके हैं। मौजूद जानकारी के अनुसार हाल ही में खेले गए बीस ओवर विश्व कप में उन्होंने लगातार तीन अहम मुकाबलों में मैच जिताने वाली पारियां खेलीं, जिससे उनकी क्षमता पर चल रही बहस काफी हद तक खत्म हो गई है।
चेन्नई टीम की नई बल्लेबाजी पंक्ति में ऋतुराज गायकवाड़ और संजू सैमसन की जोड़ी को काफी मजबूत माना जा रहा है। विशेषज्ञों का मानना है कि यह जोड़ी टीम को आक्रामक शुरुआत देने में अहम भूमिका निभा सकती है।
गौरतलब है कि पिछले सत्र में टीम का प्रदर्शन उम्मीद के मुताबिक नहीं रहा था और शुरुआती रणनीति के कारण टीम अंक तालिका में पीछे रह गई थी। इसके बाद प्रबंधन ने बीच सत्र में ही कई बदलाव किए और नई प्रतिभाओं को मौका दिया था।
मौजूद जानकारी के अनुसार युवा खिलाड़ियों को शामिल करने की रणनीति इस बार भी जारी रखी गई है। गुजरात के आक्रामक बल्लेबाज उर्विल पटेल, भारत के उन्नीस वर्ष से कम आयु वर्ग के कप्तान आयुष म्हात्रे और दक्षिण अफ्रीका के युवा बल्लेबाज डेवाल्ड ब्रेविस को टीम में शामिल किया गया है।
नीलामी के दौरान भी टीम ने कई युवा खिलाड़ियों पर भरोसा जताया है। प्रबंधन ने प्रशांत वीर और कार्तिक शर्मा जैसे उभरते खिलाड़ियों को टीम में शामिल किया है। बताया जा रहा है कि प्रशांत वीर ने घरेलू प्रतियोगिताओं में अपने आक्रामक बल्लेबाजी और उपयोगी बाएं हाथ की गेंदबाजी से काफी प्रभाव छोड़ा है।
गौरतलब है कि इन युवा खिलाड़ियों के आने से टीम की औसत आयु में भी बड़ा बदलाव देखने को मिल सकता है। इससे यह संकेत मिलता है कि टीम अब अधिक तेज और आक्रामक शैली अपनाने की तैयारी कर रही है।
हालांकि विशेषज्ञों का मानना है कि बल्लेबाजी पर ज्यादा जोर देने के कारण टीम का स्पिन गेंदबाजी विभाग थोड़ा कमजोर दिखाई दे सकता है। इस स्थिति में तेज गेंदबाजों को अधिक जिम्मेदारी निभानी पड़ सकती है।
मौजूदा योजना के अनुसार टीम का पहला मुकाबला तीस मार्च को राजस्थान के खिलाफ खेला जाएगा। इसी मुकाबले के बाद यह साफ हो पाएगा कि नई रणनीति और नए खिलाड़ियों के साथ टीम किस दिशा में आगे बढ़ती है।
