तृणमूल कांग्रेस के सांसद और 1983 क्रिकेट विश्व कप विजेता टीम के सदस्य कीर्ति आजाद ने कप्तान सूर्यकुमार यादव, मुख्य कोच गौतम गंभीर और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट परिषद (आईसीसी) के अध्यक्ष जय शाह के भारतीय टीम नेतृत्व समूह द्वारा तीसरी बार खिताब जीतने के बाद ट्रॉफी को स्टेडियम के पास स्थित हनुमान मंदिर ले जाने के कदम की कड़ी आलोचना की। रविवार को अहमदाबाद के नरेंद्र मोदी स्टेडियम में न्यूजीलैंड पर 96 रनों की शानदार जीत के बाद भारतीय टीम ने रिकॉर्ड तोड़ तीसरी बार टी20 विश्व कप का खिताब जीतकर इतिहास रच दिया और घरेलू मैदान पर खिताब का बचाव करने वाली पहली टीम बन गई।
जीत के बाद सूर्यकुमार यादव, गंभीर और जय शाह भगवान का आशीर्वाद लेने स्टेडियम के पास स्थित हनुमान मंदिर गए और ट्रॉफी भी साथ ले गए। मीडिया से बात करते हुए कीर्ति ने इस कदम पर सवाल उठाते हुए कहा कि खिलाड़ी या खेल किसी धर्म या जाति से संबंधित नहीं होते। उन्होंने कहा कि जब सभी धर्मों के लोगों से बनी टीम इंडिया ने जीत हासिल की तो 140 करोड़ लोग रोमांचित हो गए। खिलाड़ी या खेल किसी धर्म या जाति से संबंधित नहीं होते, बल्कि सिर्फ खेल से संबंधित होते हैं। एक खिलाड़ी के तौर पर मैं कहती हूं कि टीम इंडिया ने भारत को विजयी बनाया। टीम इंडिया जीती, और यह भारत के लोगों के लिए गर्व की बात है।
इससे पहले X पर कीर्ति ने लिखा था कि टीम इंडिया पर शर्म आती है! जब हमने 1983 में कपिल देव की कप्तानी में विश्व कप जीता था, तब हमारी टीम में हिंदू, मुस्लिम, सिख और ईसाई खिलाड़ी थे। हम ट्रॉफी को अपनी धार्मिक जन्मभूमि, अपनी मातृभूमि भारत (हिंदुस्तान) में लाए थे। भारतीय क्रिकेट ट्रॉफी को क्यों घसीटा जा रहा है? मस्जिद क्यों नहीं? चर्च क्यों नहीं? गुरुद्वारा क्यों नहीं? यह टीम भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व करती है - सूर्यकुमार यादव या जय शाह के परिवार का नहीं! सिराज कभी इसे मस्जिद में नहीं ले गए। संजू कभी इसे चर्च में नहीं ले गए। संजू ने टूर्नामेंट में अहम भूमिका निभाई थी और उन्हें मैन ऑफ द टूर्नामेंट चुना गया था। यह ट्रॉफी हर धर्म के 14 लाख भारतीयों की है - किसी एक धर्म की जीत का जश्न मनाने की जगह नहीं!
मैच की बात करें तो, न्यूजीलैंड ने टॉस जीतकर पहले फील्डिंग करने का फैसला किया। हालांकि, अभिषेक शर्मा (21 गेंदों में 52 रन, छह चौके और तीन छक्के सहित) की शानदार वापसी और रिकॉर्ड तोड़ अर्धशतकीय पारी तथा सैमसन के साथ उनकी 98 रन की साझेदारी ने न्यूजीलैंड को अपने फैसले पर पछतावा करने पर मजबूर कर दिया। बाद में, सैमसन ने ईशान किशन (25 गेंदों में 54 रन, चार चौके और चार छक्के सहित) के साथ शतकीय साझेदारी करते हुए भारत को 16वें ओवर में 200 रन के पार पहुंचाया। कुछ देर धीमी गति के बाद, शिवम दुबे (आठ गेंदों में 26* रन, तीन चौके और दो छक्के सहित) ने कुछ महत्वपूर्ण रन बनाकर भारत को 255/5 के स्कोर तक पहुंचाया, जो टी20 विश्व कप फाइनल में अब तक का सबसे बड़ा स्कोर है। जेम्स नीशम (3/46) न्यूजीलैंड के लिए सबसे ज्यादा विकेट लेने वाले गेंदबाज रहे।
