अंतर्राष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट परिषद (आईसीसी) ने बांग्लादेश क्रिकेट बोर्ड (बीसीबी) को आगामी आईसीसी टी20 विश्व कप 2026 में भाग लेने के लिए भारत में बांग्लादेशी क्रिकेट टीम भेजने के संबंध में बुधवार (21 जनवरी) तक अंतिम निर्णय देने का अल्टीमेटम दिया है। आईसीसी सूत्रों के अनुसार, यदि बीसीबी भारत में अपनी टीम भेजने से इनकार करता है, तो आईसीसी संभवतः किसी अन्य टीम का नाम सुझाएगा, और वर्तमान रैंकिंग के अनुसार, यह स्कॉटलैंड हो सकता है। टी20 विश्व कप 7 फरवरी से शुरू होगा।
शनिवार को, आईसीसी ने ढाका में बीसीबी अधिकारियों के साथ बैठक की। शनिवार को हुई इस बैठक में, जो एक ही सप्ताह में दोनों पक्षों के बीच दूसरी बैठक थी, बीसीबी ने एक बार फिर टी20 विश्व कप में भाग लेने के अपने रुख पर दृढ़ता दिखाई, लेकिन भारत से बाहर। बांग्लादेश में जारी अल्पसंख्यक अत्याचारों के मद्देनजर भारतीय क्रिकेट कंट्रोल बोर्ड (बीसीसीआई) के निर्देश पर बांग्लादेश के तेज गेंदबाज मुस्तफिजुर रहमान को आईपीएल 2026 टीम से बाहर किए जाने के बाद से, बीसीबी खिलाड़ियों की "सुरक्षा" को लेकर चिंता जताते हुए मैचों को भारत से बाहर स्थानांतरित करने पर जोर दे रहा है।
आईसीसी ने मूल कार्यक्रम में कोई बदलाव न करने पर अडिग रुख अपनाया है, जिसके तहत बांग्लादेश ग्रुप सी में इटली, न्यूजीलैंड, वेस्ट इंडीज और नेपाल के साथ है। मौजूदा कार्यक्रम के अनुसार, बांग्लादेश कोलकाता के प्रतिष्ठित ईडन गार्डन्स में तीन ग्रुप स्टेज मैच खेलेगा, जिसके बाद उसका अंतिम ग्रुप स्टेज मैच मुंबई के वानखेड़े स्टेडियम में होगा। शनिवार को हुई बातचीत के दौरान यह भी स्पष्ट हुआ कि आईसीसी बांग्लादेश और आयरलैंड के ग्रुप बदलने और बांग्लादेश को ग्रुप बी में भेजकर श्रीलंका में अपने शुरुआती मैच खेलने के प्रस्ताव पर सहमत नहीं हुई। यह भी बताया जा रहा है कि आईसीसी ने बांग्लादेश बोर्ड ऑफ कोलंबिया को आश्वासन दिया है कि भारत से बांग्लादेश टीम को कोई सुरक्षा खतरा नहीं है।
