जयपुर के डॉ. सोनी स्टेडियम में विजय हजारे ट्रॉफी के लीग चरण के अंतिम मैच में महाराष्ट्र की ओर से रुतुराज गायकवाड़ ने शानदार नेतृत्व किया। उन्होंने 131 गेंदों पर नाबाद 134 रन बनाकर अपनी टीम के लिए 20 साल बाद विश्व रिकॉर्ड तोड़ दिया। गायकवाड़ अब लिस्ट ए क्रिकेट के इतिहास में सर्वोच्च औसत के साथ इतिहास रच रहे हैं। जो लोग लिस्ट ए क्रिकेट से परिचित नहीं हैं, उन्हें बता दें कि इसमें दुनिया भर के सभी वनडे क्रिकेट, घरेलू और अंतरराष्ट्रीय, शामिल हैं।
महाराष्ट्र के कप्तान ने अब तक लिस्ट ए क्रिकेट में 95 पारियों में 58.72 के शानदार औसत से 5050 रन बनाए हैं, जिनमें 20 शतक और 19 अर्धशतक शामिल हैं। वे इस प्रारूप में बेहद सुसंगत रहे हैं, इसके बावजूद उन्होंने भारत के लिए ज्यादा मैच नहीं खेले हैं। दरअसल, घरेलू मैदान पर दक्षिण अफ्रीका के खिलाफ सीरीज में शानदार शतक बनाने के बावजूद उन्हें आगामी न्यूजीलैंड सीरीज के लिए टीम से बाहर कर दिया गया था।
बेवन ने 20 वर्षों तक लिस्ट ए क्रिकेट में सर्वोच्च औसत का रिकॉर्ड अपने नाम रखा। उन्होंने 50 ओवर के प्रारूप में 385 पारियों में 57.86 के औसत से 15103 रन बनाए। ऋतुराज के लिए लंबे समय तक उनकी निरंतरता को बनाए रखना एक कठिन परीक्षा होगी। हालांकि, फिलहाल इस प्रारूप में उन्हें रोकना मुश्किल लग रहा है। रुतुराज गायकवाड़ को भले ही भारतीय वनडे टीम में ज्यादा मौके न मिले हों, लेकिन घरेलू क्रिकेट में वे अपना काम बखूबी कर रहे हैं, जिससे चयनकर्ताओं के लिए उन्हें लंबे समय तक नजरअंदाज करना मुश्किल हो रहा है। गोवा के खिलाफ अपनी शानदार 134 रनों की पारी के दौरान उन्होंने 5000 रन पूरे किए। उनकी इस पारी की बदौलत महाराष्ट्र ने 50 ओवरों में सात विकेट के नुकसान पर 249 रन बनाए। एक समय महाराष्ट्र की टीम 25/5 और 52/6 के स्कोर पर संघर्ष कर रही थी, लेकिन गायकवाड़ ने यह सुनिश्चित किया कि महाराष्ट्र एक प्रतिस्पर्धी स्कोर खड़ा कर सके।
