कप्तान नैट साइवर-ब्रंट की चोट के बावजूद खेली गई 75 रन की शानदार पारी की मदद से इंग्लैंड ने दक्षिण अफ्रीका को 40 रन से हराकर महिला टी20 विश्व कप के फाइनल में जगह बनाई जहां उसका सामना चिर प्रतिद्वंदी ऑस्ट्रेलिया से होगा।
पहले बल्लेबाजी के लिए आमंत्रित किए जाने के बाद इंग्लैंड की शुरुआत अच्छी नहीं रही और उसने 23 रन पर तीन विकेट गंवा दिए। इसके बाद साइवर-ब्रंट और पूर्व कप्तान हीथर नाइट (58) ने चौथे विकेट के लिए 133 रन की साझेदारी की जिससे इंग्लैंड ने पांच विकेट पर 169 रन बनाए।
इसके जवाब में दक्षिण अफ्रीका की टीम आठ विकेट पर 129 रन ही बना पाई। उसकी तरफ से सलामी बल्लेबाज तंजमीन ब्रिट्स ने सर्वाधिक 51 रन बनाए। इंग्लैंड के लिए चार्ली डीन और लॉरेंन बेल ने दो-दो विकेट लिए।
दक्षिण अफ्रीका की उम्मीद मारिजान काप पर टिकी थी लेकिन टूर्नामेंट में अब तक अच्छा प्रदर्शन करने वाली यह ऑलराउंडर केवल पांच रन ही बना सकी।
उनके आउट होने के बाद दक्षिण अफ्रीका की उम्मीद भी खत्म हो गई।
ऑस्ट्रेलिया और इंग्लैंड में अभी तक टूर्नामेंट में एक भी मैच नहीं गंवाया है। यह 2010 के बाद पहला अवसर है जबकि दोनों टीम अजेय रहकर फाइनल में पहुंची हैं। फाइनल रविवार को लॉर्ड्स में खेला जाएगा।
