भारत के लिए एक और झटका यह है कि ऑलराउंडर नितीश कुमार रेड्डी UK के आने वाले व्हाइट-बॉल दौरे से बाहर हो गए हैं। उन्हें अफ़गानिस्तान के खिलाफ़ ODI सीरीज़ के दौरान क्वाड्रिसेप्स में चोट लगी थी। उम्मीद थी कि रेड्डी हार्दिक पांड्या की जगह लेंगे, जो लगातार चोटों के कारण टीम से बाहर चल रहे हैं। मेडिकल बुलेटिन में कहा गया है कि नितीश कुमार रेड्डी आयरलैंड सीरीज़ से बाहर हो गए हैं। MRI से पता चला है कि उनके बाएं क्वाड्रिसेप्स में सूजन है और फ़ाइबर में भी दिक्कत (टूट-फूट) आई है। उन्हें आगे की जांच के लिए COE में रिपोर्ट करने को कहा गया है।
रिपोर्ट में यह भी कहा गया है कि नितीश को अपना रिहैबिलिटेशन पूरा करने में कम से कम चार हफ़्ते लगेंगे और इसमें और ज़्यादा समय भी लग सकता है। इसका मतलब है कि वह आयरलैंड और इंग्लैंड के दौरे से बाहर हो गए हैं। अफ़गानिस्तान के ख़िलाफ़ दूसरे वनडे से पहले नीतीश चोटिल हो गए थे और इस वजह से लखनऊ में होने वाला मैच नहीं खेल पाए थे। भारतीय टीम के लिए चिंता की बात यह थी कि कप्तान शुभमन गिल ने बताया कि इस ऑलराउंडर को अपनी क्वाड (जांघ की मांसपेशी) में कुछ दिक्कत थी।
