भारत के पूर्व ऑफ़-स्पिनर रविचंद्रन अश्विन ने 2027 ICC मेन्स वनडे वर्ल्ड कप में विराट कोहली और रोहित शर्मा के खेलने का समर्थन किया है। उनका कहना है कि भले ही ये दोनों दिग्गज खिलाड़ी अपने करियर के आखिरी पड़ाव पर हैं, लेकिन उनके अनुभव और मौजूदगी से भारतीय टीम और मज़बूत होगी। अक्टूबर-नवंबर 2027 में दक्षिण अफ्रीका, ज़िम्बाब्वे और नामीबिया में होने वाले वर्ल्ड कप के समय कोहली की उम्र लगभग 39 साल और रोहित की उम्र 40 साल से ज़्यादा हो चुकी होगी। हालांकि, अश्विन का मानना है कि अगर खिलाड़ी फिट रहते हैं और उन्हें टीम मैनेजमेंट का समर्थन मिलता रहता है, तो उम्र कोई रुकावट नहीं बननी चाहिए।
