बर्मिंघम के एजबेस्टन में खेले गए विमेंस T20 वर्ल्ड कप 2026 में पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ़ शानदार गेंदबाज़ी करते हुए भारत की स्टार ऑलराउंडर दीप्ति शर्मा ने कई बड़े रिकॉर्ड बनाए। भारत ने पहले बल्लेबाज़ी करते हुए 170/6 का मज़बूत स्कोर बनाया, जिसके बाद 'विमेन इन ब्लू' ने अपनी स्पिन गेंदबाज़ी के जाल में पाकिस्तानी टीम को फंसाकर 64 रनों से ज़बरदस्त जीत हासिल की। भारत ने विमेंस T20 वर्ल्ड कप में पाकिस्तान को सातवीं बार हराकर अपने अभियान की शानदार शुरुआत की।
इस 64 रनों की जीत में दीप्ति की भूमिका अहम रही, क्योंकि उन्होंने अपने चार ओवरों में 5/10 के आंकड़े के साथ पांच विकेट चटकाए। उन्होंने अपनी स्पिन गेंदबाज़ी से पाकिस्तान की टीम को ध्वस्त कर दिया और इस दौरान कई रिकॉर्ड भी अपने नाम किए। दीप्ति विमेंस T20I में एक से ज़्यादा बार पांच विकेट लेने वाली पहली भारतीय और फुल-मेंबर टीमों में ऐसा करने वाली छठी खिलाड़ी बन गई हैं।

उन्होंने T20 वर्ल्ड कप में भारत के लिए सबसे अच्छे बॉलिंग आंकड़े का रिकॉर्ड भी बनाया। उन्होंने 2023 वर्ल्ड कप में इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ़ मैच में रेणुका सिंह ठाकुर के 5/15 के आंकड़े को पीछे छोड़ दिया। वह टूर्नामेंट में पांच विकेट लेने वाली तीसरी भारतीय खिलाड़ी हैं; उनसे पहले प्रियंका रॉय ने ऐसा कारनामा किया था।

दीप्ति ने अपने प्रदर्शन के बारे में बात करते हुए कहा कि पांच विकेट लेना उनके लिए वाकई खास था। दीप्ति ने JioStar से कहा कि किसी एक पल को चुनना मुश्किल है क्योंकि इस गेम में मैंने जो कुछ भी किया, वह सब खास था, लेकिन मैं पांच विकेट लेने वाले पल को चुनूंगी। ICC टूर्नामेंट में पांच विकेट लेना और अपनी टीम के लिए मैच जीतना बहुत कम होता है। जब पहला ड्रिंक्स ब्रेक हुआ, तो चर्चा थोड़ी और बेहतर खेलने के बारे में थी क्योंकि हम जानते हैं कि हमारी टीम में कितना टैलेंट और कैसे खिलाड़ी हैं।
