बेंगलुरु के बजाय अहमदाबाद लगातार दूसरे सत्र में 31 मई को इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग (आईपीएल) के फाइनल की मेजबानी करेगा, जबकि क्वालीफायर एक धर्मशाला और दो अन्य प्लेऑफ मैच न्यू चंडीगढ़ में खेले जाएंगे। भारतीय क्रिकेट बोर्ड (बीसीसीआई) ने बुधवार को यह घोषणा की।
रॉयल चैलेंजर्स बेंगलुरु (आरसीबी) के मौजूदा चैंपियन होने के कारण परंपरा के अनुसार फाइनल बेंगलुरु में खेला जाना था। पिछले साल के अलावा अहमदाबाद ने इससे पहले 2022 और 2023 में आईपीएल फाइनल की मेजबानी की थी।
बीसीसीआई ने एक प्रेस विज्ञप्ति में कहा, ‘‘आईपीएल फाइनल की मेजबानी के लिए मूल रूप से बेंगलुरु को चुना गया था।
लेकिन स्थानीय संघ और अधिकारियों की कुछ ऐसी मांगों के कारण जो बीसीसीआई के स्थापित दिशानिर्देशों और प्रोटोकॉल के दायरे से बाहर थीं, आयोजन स्थल को स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया है।’’
बोर्ड ने हालांकि कर्नाटक की राजधानी में फाइनल आयोजित करने के लिए की जा रही मांगों का स्पष्ट उल्लेख नहीं किया है।
बोर्ड ने यह भी कहा कि ‘‘संचालन और लॉजिस्टिकल से जुड़े मसलों के कारण इस वर्ष प्लेऑफ चरण के मैच तीन स्थानों पर खेले जाएंगे।’’
बीसीसीआई ने कहा, ‘‘क्वालीफायर एक 26 मई को धर्मशाला के एचपीसीए स्टेडियम में खेला जाएगा। इस मैच में अंक तालिका में शीर्ष पर रहने वाली दो टीमें भाग लेंगी।
इस मैच के विजेता को फाइनल में सीधा प्रवेश मिलेगा।।’’
इसमें कहा गया है, ‘‘इसके बाद मुकाबले न्यू चंडीगढ़ के न्यू इंटरनेशनल क्रिकेट स्टेडियम में होंगे, जहां तीसरे और चौथे स्थान पर रहने वाली टीमों के बीच 27 मई को एलिमिनेटर मैच खेला जाएगा। इसी स्टेडियम में 29 मई को क्वालीफायर दो भी खेला जाएगा।’’
धर्मशाला में पहली बार आईपीएल प्लेऑफ का कोई मैच खेला जाएगा।
एलिमिनेटर में जीत दर्ज करने वाली टीम क्वालीफायर दो में क्वालीफायर एक में हारने वाली टीम का सामना करेगी। इस मैच की विजेता टीम फाइनल में पहुंचेगी।
बीसीसीआई ने कहा, ‘‘आईपीएल के मौजूदा सत्र का समापन 31 मई को अहमदाबाद के नरेंद्र मोदी स्टेडियम में ग्रैंड फाइनल के साथ होगा, जो दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा क्रिकेट स्टेडियम है।’’
बीसीसीआई के सूत्रों ने बताया कि अहमदाबाद स्टेडियम को उसकी अधिक दर्शकों की क्षमता के कारण प्राथमिकता दी गई क्योंकि फाइनल के लिए अधिक संख्या में दर्शकों के आने की संभावना है।
यह भी पता चला है कि एम चिन्नास्वामी स्टेडियम की अपेक्षाकृत कम क्षमता को देखते हुए बोर्ड कर्नाटक सरकार के उस फैसले से सहमत नहीं है जिसमें राज्य के विधायकों, एमएलसी और सांसदों के लिए इस सत्र में आईपीएल के तीन-तीन मुफ्त टिकटों का कोटा निर्धारित किया गया है।
एम चिन्नास्वामी स्टेडियम की क्षमता लगभग 35,000 दर्शकों की है। पिछले साल आरसीबी के विजय समारोह के दौरान हुई भगदड़ में यहां 11 लोगों की जान चली गई थी।
प्लेऑफ़ का कार्यक्रम इस प्रकार है:
क्वालीफायर एक: 26 मई – एचपीसीए स्टेडियम, धर्मशाला
एलिमिनेटर: 27 मई – न्यू इंटरनेशनल क्रिकेट स्टेडियम, न्यू चंडीगढ़
क्वालीफायर दो: 29 मई – न्यू इंटरनेशनल क्रिकेट स्टेडियम, न्यू चंडीगढ़
फाइनल: 31 मई – नरेंद्र मोदी स्टेडियम, अहमदाबाद।
