In a statement on the anniversary, Zelensky said Russian drones were routinely flying over the site of Chernobyl as it remains in an active war zone following Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Last year, Ukraine claimed a Russian drone had hit the dome covering reactor four, which still needs repairs to ensure future safety of the site.
