BBC NewsThe first report from the inquiry into the Southport killings has been released. Alice da Silva Aguiar, 9, Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, and Bebe King, 6, were killed during an indiscriminate knife attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance workshop on 29 July 2024. It was carried out by 17-year-old Axel Rudakubana, who seriously wounded eight other children and two adults in the attack. He has since been sentenced to at least 52 years in prison. The first phase of the inquiry heard nine weeks of emotional evidence, focusing on the events leading up to it, including the killer's history and interactions with public bodies.
