दिल्ली कैपिटल्स के ओपनर अभिषेक पोरेल को पश्चिम बंगाल के हुगली ज़िले में मोगरा पुलिस स्टेशन में दर्ज एक मामले के सिलसिले में गिरफ़्तार किया गया है। रेप का मामला दर्ज होने के बाद अधिकारियों ने बंगाल के इस क्रिकेटर को गिरफ़्तार किया। 20 जुलाई को कलकत्ता हाई कोर्ट ने उन्हें मुख्य आरोपी के तौर पर पहचाने जाने के बाद उनकी गिरफ़्तारी का आदेश दिया था। हुगली ग्रामीण के पुलिस अधीक्षक कुंवर भूषण सिंह ने बताया कि पोरेल को दम दम पुलिस स्टेशन के तहत आने वाले इमामी सिटी से गिरफ़्तार किया गया।
अभिषेक के ख़िलाफ़ 19 धाराओं के तहत मामला दर्ज किया गया था, जिनमें से ज़्यादातर ग़ैर-ज़मानती अपराध थे। पिछली सुनवाई के दौरान, कलकत्ता हाई कोर्ट के जस्टिस सौगत भट्टाचार्य ने हुगली के मगरा पुलिस स्टेशन को अभिषेक के पास मौजूद मोबाइल फ़ोन समेत सभी इलेक्ट्रॉनिक डिवाइस ज़ब्त करने का निर्देश दिया था। पुलिस से उनके द्वारा उठाए गए कदमों की जानकारी देने वाली रिपोर्ट भी जमा करने को कहा गया था।
यह मामला मंगलवार, 11 अगस्त को सुनवाई के लिए आया। कार्यवाही के दौरान, मगरा पुलिस स्टेशन ने जज को बताया कि अभिषेक को गिरफ़्तार कर लिया गया है और उसे चिनसुराह कोर्ट में पेश किया जाएगा। अभिषेक के खिलाफ दर्ज FIR में कहा गया है कि अभिषेक ने शिकायत करने वाली महिला को गैर-कानूनी तरीके से कैद करके रखा। उसने उसे खाना नहीं दिया और जान-बूझकर उसे सबसे अलग-थलग रखा। इसके नतीजे में... महिला शारीरिक रूप से कमजोर हो गई और ठीक से चल-फिर भी नहीं पा रही थी।
शिकायत में 2 अप्रैल, 2026 को दिल्ली में हुई एक घटना का ज़िक्र है। इसमें आरोप लगाया गया है कि महिला को कैद करके रखा गया और खाना नहीं दिया गया, जिससे वह कमजोर हो गई और उसे मेडिकल मदद की ज़रूरत पड़ी। ये आरोप शिकायत में लगाए गए हैं और अभी तक अदालत में साबित नहीं हुए हैं। शिकायत करने वाली महिला ने आरोप लगाया कि वह अभिषेक के साथ रिश्ते में थी और उनके परिवारों के बीच शादी की बात भी हुई थी। लेकिन उसकी शिकायत के मुताबिक, जब उसे पता चला कि अभिषेक के दूसरी महिलाओं के साथ भी संबंध हैं, तो उनका रिश्ता खराब हो गया और वे अलग हो गए।
