Iran-Israel War impact: मध्य पूर्व में बढ़ते सैन्य तनाव का असर अब क्रिकेट पर भी दिखने लगा। श्रीलंका क्रिकेट ने अफगानिस्तान के खिलाफ होने वाली सीमित ओवर की सीरीज को अनिश्चिताल के लिए टाल दिया है। यह 6 मैचों की सीरीज इस सप्ताह यूएई में खेली जाने वाली थी लेकिन मिडिल ईस्ट में जारी संघर्ष और उड़ानों में आ रही दिक्कतों के कारण इसे स्थगित करना पड़ा।
श्रीलंका क्रिकेट के एक अधिकारी ने समाचार एजेंसी AFP को बताया कि मौजूदा हालात में टीमों की यात्रा और फ्लाइट संचालन बड़ी समस्या बन गए। उन्होंने कहा, 'हमें सीरीज रद्द करनी पड़ी क्योंकि उड़ानों की स्थिति ठीक नहीं है और क्षेत्र में लड़ाई जारी है।'
सीरीज के कार्यक्रम के मुताबिक दोनों टीमों के बीच तीन टी20 और तीन वनडे मैच खेले जाने थे। टी20 मुकाबले Sharjah में 13, 15 और 17 मार्च को खेले जाने थे जबकि वनडे मैच दुबई में 20, 22 और 25 मार्च को निर्धारित थे।
यह सीरीज इसलिए भी खास थी क्योंकि पहली बार अफगानिस्तान आधिकारिक तौर पर श्रीलंका की मेजबानी करने वाला था। हालांकि सुरक्षा हालात के कारण मुकाबले यूएई में आयोजित किए जा रहे थे। दरअसल, मध्य पूर्व में तनाव उस समय बढ़ गया जब बीते 28 फरवरी को अमेरिका और इजरायल ने ईरान पर हमला किया। इसके जवाब में ईरान ने भी कई ठिकानों पर ड्रोन और मिसाइल से जवाबी हमले किए।
इन हमलों के बाद पूरे क्षेत्र में हवाई यातायात प्रभावित हुआ। दुबई में कुछ समय के लिए एयरपोर्ट संचालन भी रोकना पड़ा था, जिससे कई अंतरराष्ट्रीय उड़ानें प्रभावित हुईं। इसी वजह से क्रिकेट सीरीज का आयोजन फिलहाल संभव नहीं हो पा रहा है।
अफगानिस्तान की टीम के लिए यह स्थिति नई नहीं है। सुरक्षा कारणों से देश में अभी तक कोई अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट मैच आयोजित नहीं हो पाया है। यही वजह है कि अफगानिस्तान को अपने ‘होम’ मैच अक्सर भारत या यूएई में खेलने पड़ते हैं।
इस बीच श्रीलंका क्रिकेट में कोचिंग स्तर पर भी बड़ा बदलाव हुआ है। टीम के पूर्व कोच सनथ जयसूर्या ने टी29 विश्व कप 2026 में टीम के शुरुआती दौर से ही बाहर होने के बाद पद छोड़ दिया था। उनकी जगह अब दक्षिण अफ्रीका के पूर्व बल्लेबाज गैरी कर्स्टन को नया कोच बनाया गया है। श्रीलंका क्रिकेट ने उन्हें 2 साल के कॉन्ट्रैक्ट पर नियुक्त किया है और वह 15 अप्रैल से अपनी जिम्मेदारी संभाल लेंगे।
गैरी कर्स्टन इससे पहले 2008 से 2011 तक भारत और उसके बाद 2011 से 2013 तक साउथ अफ्रीका क्रिकेट टीम के हेड कोच रह चुके हैं।
