However, a recent decision by the central government and the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has challenged this long-held notion. Now, even candidates who have scored below zero in the entrance examination will be allowed to enter the race for admission through NEET-PG. In fact, NBEMS has almost eliminated the qualifying cut-off for NEET-PG 2025. As a result of this change, candidates with negative scores — even as low as minus 40 — will be eligible to participate in counselling for MD and MS courses. This decision has taken many in the medical education community by surprise and has sparked intense debate and reactions across social media platforms.
