बांग्लादेश क्रिकेट बोर्ड (बीसीबी) ने गुरुवार को वित्त समिति के अध्यक्ष नजमुल इस्लाम को बर्खास्त कर दिया। राष्ट्रीय टीम के वरिष्ठ खिलाड़ियों ने उनके खिलाफ अपमानजनक टिप्पणी करने के विरोध में विद्रोह किया था। यह विवाद तब शुरू हुआ जब नजमुल ने टी20 विश्व कप 2026 के लिए भारत जाने से बांग्लादेश के इनकार को दोहराते हुए, खिलाड़ियों के पारिश्रमिक को लेकर जताई गई चिंताओं को खारिज कर दिया। उन्होंने कहा कि खिलाड़ियों को मुआवजा नहीं दिया जाएगा क्योंकि वे अब तक एक भी आईसीसी टूर्नामेंट जीतने में असफल रहे हैं और उन्होंने इस समर्थन को सार्थक साबित नहीं किया है।
इस बयान से आक्रोश फैल गया और सीडब्ल्यूएबी ने उन्हें बीसीबी से तत्काल हटाने की मांग की। खिलाड़ियों और जनता के दबाव में आकर बीसीबी को कार्रवाई करनी पड़ी और उसने नजमुल को बोर्ड की वित्त समिति के अध्यक्ष पद से हटा दिया। बांग्लादेश क्रिकेट बोर्ड (बीसीबी) ने गुरुवार शाम एक बयान में कहा, “बांग्लादेश क्रिकेट बोर्ड (बीसीबी) यह सूचित करना चाहता है कि हाल के घटनाक्रमों की समीक्षा के बाद और संगठन के हित में, बीसीबी अध्यक्ष ने नजमुल इस्लाम को वित्त समिति के अध्यक्ष पद से तत्काल प्रभाव से मुक्त करने का निर्णय लिया है।”
बयान में आगे कहा गया है कि अगले आदेश तक, बीसीबी अध्यक्ष वित्त समिति के कार्यवाहक अध्यक्ष का पदभार संभालेंगे। बीसीबी दोहराता है कि क्रिकेटरों का हित उसकी सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता है। बोर्ड अपने अधिकार क्षेत्र में आने वाले सभी खिलाड़ियों के सम्मान और गरिमा को बनाए रखने के लिए पूरी तरह से प्रतिबद्ध है। बीसीबी ने नजमुल को कारण बताओ नोटिस भी जारी किया था। बीसीबी ने गुरुवार को एक प्रेस विज्ञप्ति में कहा कि बांग्लादेश क्रिकेट बोर्ड (बीसीबी) बोर्ड के एक सदस्य द्वारा हाल ही में की गई आपत्तिजनक टिप्पणियों पर खेद व्यक्त करता है। बीसीबी इन टिप्पणियों से उत्पन्न चिंता को स्वीकार करता है और पेशेवर रवैये, क्रिकेटरों के प्रति सम्मान और क्रिकेट के खेल को पोषित करने वाले मूल्यों के प्रति अपनी प्रतिबद्धता को दोहराता है।
