Others New UPI Charges 2026: UPI पर अब लगेगा CHARGE ? पेमेंट का नया नियम, ग्राहक देगा पैसा या दुकानदार ?
UPI payments are set for a major change from October 15, 2026, with NPCI introducing a new MDR framework for certain transactions above ₹2,000.But does this mean customers will have to pay extra for using UPI? What is the new 0.4% MDR, and who will actually pay it? Small merchants receiving up to ₹1 lakh per month through UPI are set to get relief, while selected categories such as railways, telecom, insurance, fuel and agricultural inputs will have a flat ₹5 MDR on eligible transactions. Mutual funds and securities will have a separate 0.02% MDR structure. In this video, we explain the new UPI MDR rules, the ₹2,000 threshold, the ₹5 flat charge, the ₹300 maximum MDR cap, exemptions for small merchants, and what the changes could mean for customers and businesses. Most importantly, the UPI payment itself is expected to remain free for customers. The key question is how merchants and payment businesses will absorb the new cost after October 15.
