The impact of the devastating floods and destruction in Nepal is now being felt in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Following the flash floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers near the Chinese border, water levels in the Gandak and Kosi rivers are rising rapidly. Authorities have issued a HIGH ALERT in several districts, including Maharajganj and Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh, and West Champaran and Gopalganj in Bihar. Considering the situation, all 36 gates of the Gandak Barrage have been opened. NDRF teams have been deployed, and people living in low-lying areas are being evacuated.
