हर विभाग में संतुलित भारतीय टीम को आईसीसी महिला टी20 विश्व कप के पहले मैच में रविवार को चिर प्रतिद्वंद्वी पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ सलामी बल्लेबाजों स्मृति मंधाना और शेफाली वर्मा से अच्छी शुरूआत की उम्मीद होगी। पिछले साल वनडे विश्व कप जीतने वाली हरमनप्रीत कौर की अगुवाई में भारत की नजरें लगातार दूसरे आईसीसी खिताब पर लगी हैं। पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ भारत का रिकॉर्ड भी बेहतरीन रहा है। भारत ने टी20 प्रारूप में पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ 13 मैच जीते जबकि तीन में पराजय का सामना किया है।

पिछली बार 2024 में दुबई में टी20 विश्व कप में दोनों टीमों का सामना हुआ था जिसमें भारत छह विकेट से जीता था। उसके बाद से सफेद गेंद के क्रिकेट में भारतीय टीम के प्रदर्शन में निरंतरता देखी गई है। भारत ने पहली बार वनडे पिश्व कप जीता और अब लगभग वही टीम टी20 खिताब के लिये जोर आजमाइश करेगी। टूर्नामेंट से पहले भारत ने आस्ट्रेलिया को 2 . 1 से और इंग्लैंड को 3 . 2 से हराया जबकि श्रीलंका पर 5 . 0 से जीत दर्ज की। उसे हालांकि दक्षिण अफ्रीका (4 . 1) और इंग्लैंड (2 . 1) ने उनकी धरती पर हुई श्रृंखलाओं में हराया। भारत के प्रदर्शन की कुंजी सलामी बल्लेबाजों मंधाना और शेफाली से मिलने वाली शुरूआत है।

आस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ फरवरी में 82 रन बनाने के बाद मंधाना ने अगले छह मैचों में 13, 12, 37, 0, 32 और आठ रन बनाये हैं। शेफाली ने जोहानिसबर्ग में 64 रन बनाने के बाद अगले पांच मैचों में 9, 4, 2, 22 और 11 रन बनाये। फातिमा सना की कप्तानी वाली पाकिस्तान टीम के खिलाफ उन्हें बेहतर प्रदर्शन करना होगा। सना जबर्दस्त फॉर्म में है और पिछले साल बल्ले से उनका औसत 50 से अधिक और गेंदबाजी में 25 से कम रहा है। उन्होंने हाल ही में कराची में जिम्बाब्वे के खिलाफ 15 गेंद में टी20 अर्धशतक बनाया था। भारतीय गेंदबाजों को उनके बल्ले पर अंकुश लगाने के लिये काफी मेहनत करनी होगी खासकर जब अमनजोत कौर और काशवी गौतम चोट के कारण बाहर हैं।

हरमनप्रीत कौर ने दक्षिण अफ्रीका और इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ अर्धशतक लगाकर फॉर्म में वापसी की जो मध्यक्रम के लिये अच्छा संकेत है। जेमिमा रौड्रिग्स, रिचा घोष और भारती फुलमाली पर भी रन बनाने की जिम्मेदारी होगी। पाकिस्तान के पास बायें हाथ की स्पिनर नशरा संधू के रूप में उम्दा गेंदबाज है। विकेटकीपर बल्लेबाज यास्तिका भाटिया ने इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ तीन मैचों की श्रृंखला में सर्वाधिक रन बनाये थे लेकिन उन्हें मौजूदा स्ट्राइक रेट 99 को बेहतर करना होगा। हरफनमौला दीप्ति शर्मा को बल्ले और गेंद दोनों से योगदान देना होगा हालांकि पिचें उनकी आफ स्पिन गेंदबाजी के अनुकूल नहीं होंगी।
