भारत के वरिष्ठ बल्लेबाज विराट कोहली पिछले महीने रॉयल चैलेंजर्स बेंगलुरु के आईपीएल 2026 अभियान के दौरान हैमस्ट्रिंग में चोट लगने के कारण अफगानिस्तान के खिलाफ आगामी तीन मैचों की वनडे श्रृंखला में नहीं खेल पाएंगे। यशस्वी जायसवाल को उनकी जगह टीम में शामिल किया गया है। मुख्य चयनकर्ता अजीत अगरकर ने संकेत दिया कि कोहली 14 जुलाई से शुरू होने वाली इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ भारत की अगली वनडे श्रृंखला के लिए फिट हो सकते हैं, लेकिन उन्होंने स्वीकार किया कि फिजियोथेरेपिस्टों के पास उनकी रिकवरी के संबंध में फिलहाल कोई स्पष्ट समयसीमा नहीं है।

बीसीसीआई ने इंस्टाग्राम पर एक पोस्ट में बताया कि बीसीसीआई के माननीय सचिव श्री देवजीत सैकिया ने सूचित किया है कि घायल विराट कोहली की जगह यशस्वी जायसवाल भारत बनाम अफगानिस्तान वनडे सीरीज में खेलेंगे। अफगानिस्तान के खिलाफ वनडे सीरीज में तीन मैच खेले जाएंगे, जो 13 जून से शुरू होगी। इससे पहले दोनों टीमों के बीच न्यू चंडीगढ़ में एक टेस्ट मैच खेला जाएगा।

कोहली की चोट के बारे में अगरकर ने कहा कि विराट को IPL फाइनल में चोट लगे अभी एक हफ्ता भी नहीं हुआ है। अभी तक हमें ठीक होने में कितना समय लगेगा, यह पता नहीं है। लेकिन ऐसा लग रहा है कि वह इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ वनडे सीरीज के लिए फिट हो सकते हैं। यह कोई पक्की बात नहीं है, इसलिए इस पर पूरी तरह भरोसा न करें। फिजियो ने भी अभी तक ठीक होने की कोई पक्की जानकारी नहीं दी है।

टी20 और टेस्ट क्रिकेट से संन्यास लेने के बाद अब भारत के लिए सिर्फ वनडे क्रिकेट खेलने वाले कोहली आखिरी बार जनवरी में न्यूजीलैंड के खिलाफ घरेलू सीरीज में खेले थे। उन्होंने IPL में चौथे सबसे ज्यादा रन बनाने वाले खिलाड़ी और रॉयल चैलेंजर्स बेंगलुरु के लिए 16 पारियों में 675 रन बनाकर टॉप स्कोरर का खिताब अपने नाम किया। उनका औसत 56.25 और स्ट्राइक रेट 165.84 रहा, जिसमें एक शतक और पांच अर्धशतक शामिल हैं। उनका उच्चतम स्कोर 105 रन नाबाद था।
