वेस्ट इंडीज के पूर्व तेज गेंदबाज इयान बिशप ने शुक्रवार रात जयपुर में आईपीएल 2026 के मुकाबले में राजस्थान रॉयल्स पर सात विकेट की जीत में बाएं हाथ के तेज गेंदबाज मिशेल स्टार्क के प्रभावशाली प्रदर्शन के बाद दिल्ली कैपिटल्स की गेंदबाजी इकाई और मिशेल स्टार्क की फॉर्म में वापसी की सराहना की है।ईएसपीएनक्रिकइंफो के टाइमआउट शो में बोलते हुए, बिशप ने स्वीकार किया कि लंबे ब्रेक के बाद स्टार्क की लय को लेकर उन्हें शुरू में चिंता थी, लेकिन ऑस्ट्रेलियाई तेज गेंदबाज ने जिस तरह से जवाब दिया उससे वे खुश थे।
बिशप ने कहा कि मेरे मन में एक सवाल था: इतने लंबे अंतराल के बाद वह किस रूप में वापसी करेंगे। हालांकि, स्टार्क के प्रदर्शन ने उन शंकाओं को दूर कर दिया, क्योंकि उन्होंने आक्रामक गेंदबाजी करते हुए विपक्षी टीम को पारी के अधिकांश समय तक दबाव में रखा। चोट से उबरने के बाद आईपीएल 2026 का अपना पहला मैच खेलने वाले स्टार्क ने तीन विकेट लिए और दिल्ली की उद्घाटन चैंपियन टीम पर महत्वपूर्ण जीत में अहम भूमिका निभाई।
बिशप ने आगे कहा कि लेकिन वो अपने साथ कुछ दमदार गेंदबाजी लेकर आए हैं। ये देखकर अच्छा लगा। आखिरी ओवर में कुछ रन बने, वरना आंकड़े और भी बेहतर होते। दिल्ली कैपिटल्स के समग्र गेंदबाजी संयोजन की प्रशंसा करते हुए बिशप ने कहा कि टीम को तेज गेंदबाजी आक्रमण से काफी फायदा हुआ है। उन्होंने कहा कि मैं दिल्ली कैपिटल्स के दृष्टिकोण से इससे खुश हूं। उन्हें इसकी जरूरत थी। उन्होंने गेंदबाजी इकाई में उपलब्ध विदेशी विकल्पों के साथ टीम में संभावित संतुलन पर भी प्रकाश डाला।
बिशप ने कहा कि लुंगी और स्टार्क के भविष्य के मैचों में एक साथ खेलने से, दो विदेशी बल्लेबाजों और दो विदेशी तेज गेंदबाजों का संयोजन अच्छा रहेगा। मिच को इस स्तर पर देखकर मुझे खुशी हुई है। डीसी ने रिकॉर्ड 226 रनों का लक्ष्य हासिल करते हुए आरआर को सात विकेट से हरा दिया। यह आईपीएल इतिहास में उनका सबसे बड़ा लक्ष्य है। केएल राहुल और पथुम निस्संका की 110 रनों की सलामी साझेदारी ने लक्ष्य का पीछा करने की नींव रखी, जिसके बाद ट्रिस्टन स्टब्स और आशुतोष शर्मा ने पांच गेंद शेष रहते जीत पक्की कर दी।
