श्रीलंका क्रिकेट बोर्ड यानी एसएलसी में बड़ा उलटफेर हो गया है। लंबे समय तक बोर्ड के चेयरमैन रहे शम्मी सिल्वा ने इस्तीफा दे दिया है। शम्मी सिल्वा ने ये फैसला इसलिए भी लिया है क्योंकि देश के राष्ट्रपति अनुरा कुमारा दिसानायके ने बोर्ड में बदलाव पर जोर दिया था। 2019 से सिल्वा ही श्रीलंका क्रिकेट बोर्ड के हेड थे। उनके साथ-साथ दूसरे अधिकारियों ने भी एक साथ इस्तीफा दे दिया है, जैसा कि पहले तय किया गया था। इस्तीफे तुरंत लागू हो गए हैं जिससे एक अंतरिम बॉडी के बोर्ड चार्ज लेने का रास्ता साफ हो गया है।
SLC की ओर से जारी एक बयान में कहा गया है कि, श्रीलंका क्रिकेट के प्रेसिडेंट, शम्मी सिल्वा ने अपने पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया है। उनके साथ, एसएलसी की एग्जीक्यूटिव कमिटी के पदाधिकारियों और सदस्यों ने भी अपना इस्तीफा दे दिया है। बयान में आगे कहा गया है कि, इस फैसले के बारे में औपचारिक रूप से राष्ट्रपति अनुरा कुमारा दिसानायके और माननीय युवा मामले और खेल मंत्री, सुनील कुमारा गमागे को बता दिया गया है। ये इस्तीफे मंगलवार को एसएलसी की एग्जीक्यूटिव कमिटी की मीटिंग के बाद हुए हैं। मीटिंग में एक साथ अपने-अपने पद को छोड़ने का फैसला शम्मी सिल्वा की अध्यक्षता वाली समिति ने लिया है।
श्रीलंका की सरकार अब एक अंतरिम कमेटी बोर्ड को चलाने के लिए कुछ समय के लिए बना सकती है जिसे पूर्व सांसद एरन विक्रमरत्ने हेड करेंगे। जाने- माने पूर्व क्रिकेटर सिदाथ वेट्टीमुनी और रोशन महानामा को भी सुधारों को तेजी से आगे बढ़ाने के लिए नये सेटअप में भूमिका दी जा सकती है।
