भारत की टी20 विश्व कप विजेता टीम के विकेटकीपर-बल्लेबाज संजू सैमसन ने सोमवार को कहा कि मौजूदा भारतीय टीम निजी उपलब्धियों से अधिक सामूहिक सफलता को प्राथमिकता देती है। उन्होंने इसे ड्रेसिंग रूम में टीम के नेतृत्व समूह द्वारा अपनाई गई एक अहम रणनीति बताया।
टी20 विश्व कप के टूर्नामेंट के सर्वश्रेष्ठ खिलाड़ी रहे सैमसन ने यहां संवाददाताओं से बात करते हुए कहा कि टीम के भीतर निजी रिकॉर्ड बनाने के बजाय मैच जीतने पर अधिक जोर दिया जाता है।
सैमसन ने कहा, ‘‘अब हर कोई इसी तरह सोच रहा है।
यह हमारे कप्तान और कोच द्वारा ड्रेसिंग रूम में सोच समझकर लिया गया फैसला था। हमारे नेतृत्व समूह की ओर से टीम को लगातार यही संदेश दिया जाता है कि टीम सबसे पहले आनी चाहिए और निजी उपलब्धियां दूसरे नंबर पर।’’
उन्होंने कहा कि खिलाड़ियों के बीच इस सोच को बार-बार दोहराया गया है।
सैमसन ने कहा, ‘‘यह बात अपने आप ही हर एक खिलाड़ी के मन में बैठ गई और इसी तरह हमने हर मैच में प्रतिक्रिया देना शुरू कर दिया।’’
सैमसन ने कहा कि क्रिकेट खेलते समय उन्होंने हमेशा खुद के प्रति ईमानदार रहना पसंद किया है और उनका मानना है कि टीम की सफलता में योगदान देना ही इस खेल का सबसे अहम पहलू है।
केरल में जन्मे इस क्रिकेटर ने कहा कि जब से उन्होंने कम उम्र में केरल की ओर से अलग-अलग आयु वर्ग के टूर्नामेंट में खेलना शुरू किया था तभी से वह क्रिकेट को एक टीम खेल के तौर पर देखते आए हैं।
उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘अंडर-13 के दिनों में केरल के लिए खेलने से लेकर आज तक मैं क्रिकेट को हमेशा एक टीम खेल के तौर पर ही देखता हूं। हम जीतने के लिए खेलते हैं। और उस जीत के लिए आप जो कुछ भी करते हैं, उससे सबसे पहले टीम को ही फायदा होना चाहिए।’’
सैमसन ने एक ऐसे क्रिकेटर के तौर पर अपनी जिम्मेदारियों के बारे में भी बात की जो केरल से आता है और देश के लिए सर्वोच्च स्तर पर खेलता है। उन्होंने कहा कि कई युवा खिलाड़ी उनके सफर को बहुत करीब से देखते और फॉलो करते हैं।
इस विकेटकीपर बल्लेबाज ने कहा, ‘‘बहुत से युवा और अलग-अलग करियर वाले लोग मुझे अपनी जिंदगी जैसा मानते हैं। जब वे मुझे भारतीय टीम में नाकाम होते देखते हैं तो उन्हें लगता है कि इस जगह का कोई लड़का वहां जाकर कुछ हासिल नहीं कर सकता।’’
सैमसन ने कहा कि इसी सोच ने उन्हें यह साबित करने के लिए प्रेरित किया कि केरल के खिलाड़ी भी क्रिकेट के सबसे बड़े मंच पर कामयाब हो सकते हैं।
उन्होंने कहा,‘‘मुझे लगा कि मुझे कुछ साबित करने की जरूरत है। केरल का एक लड़का, त्रिवेंद्रम का एक लड़का भी वहा जाकर क्रिकेट के सबसे बड़े मंच पर अच्छा प्रदर्शन कर सकता है।
