रविवार को अहमदाबाद के नरेंद्र मोदी स्टेडियम में भारत और न्यूजीलैंड के बीच होने वाले आईसीसी पुरुष टी20 विश्व कप 2026 के फाइनल के लिए अमीरात आईसीसी एलीट पैनल ऑफ मैच ऑफिशियल्स की घोषणा कर दी गई है। इंग्लैंड के रिचर्ड इलिंगवर्थ और एलेक्स व्हार्फ इस महत्वपूर्ण मैच में ऑन-फील्ड अंपायर होंगे। आईसीसी वेबसाइट के अनुसार, इलिंगवर्थ लगातार दूसरी बार आईसीसी पुरुष टी20 विश्व कप के फाइनल में अंपायरिंग करेंगे। इससे पहले उन्होंने 2024 संस्करण के फाइनल में क्रिस गैफेनी के साथ अंपायरिंग की थी।
यह नियुक्ति आईसीसी के प्रमुख आयोजनों में इलिंगवर्थ के शानदार प्रदर्शन को जारी रखती है। हाल के वर्षों में, उन्होंने आईसीसी पुरुष क्रिकेट विश्व कप 2023 और आईसीसी पुरुष चैंपियंस ट्रॉफी 2025 के फाइनल में भी अंपायरिंग की है। व्हार्फ ने इससे पहले आईसीसी महिला क्रिकेट विश्व कप 2022 और आईसीसी पुरुष क्रिकेट विश्व कप 2023 में अंपायरिंग की है और पिछले साल उन्हें अमीरात आईसीसी एलीट पैनल ऑफ अंपायर्स में शामिल किया गया था।
इस सप्ताह की शुरुआत में कोलकाता के ईडन गार्डन्स में दक्षिण अफ्रीका पर न्यूजीलैंड की शानदार सेमीफाइनल जीत के दौरान इलिंगवर्थ और व्हार्फ एक साथ अंपायर थे। मैदान पर मौजूद अधिकारियों का सहयोग करते हुए, दक्षिण अफ्रीका के अल्लाहुद्दीन पालेकर को तीसरा अंपायर नियुक्त किया गया है। 48 वर्षीय पालेकर को मार्च 2025 में व्हार्फ के साथ अमीरात आईसीसी एलीट पैनल ऑफ अंपायर्स में शामिल किया गया था और उन्होंने टूर्नामेंट के दौरान छह मैचों में अंपायरिंग की है। दक्षिण अफ्रीका के ही एड्रियन होल्डस्टॉक चौथे अंपायर के रूप में सहायता करेंगे, जबकि एंडी पाइक्रॉफ्ट अहमदाबाद में मैच रेफरी की भूमिका निभाएंगे।
