हाल ही में पूर्व भारतीय कप्तान कपिल देव ने विराट कोहली के टेस्ट क्रिकेट से संन्यास को लेकर अपनी राय साझा की। उन्होंने कहा कि व्यक्तिगत रूप से उन्हें लगा कि विराट ने यह फैसला थोड़ा जल्दी लिया, क्योंकि उनमें अभी भी अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर टेस्ट क्रिकेट खेलने की पूरी क्षमता मौजूद थी। बता दें कि विराट कोहली ने पिछले वर्ष मई में टेस्ट क्रिकेट से संन्यास लेकर करोड़ों क्रिकेट प्रेमियों को चौंका दिया था।
मौजूद जानकारी के अनुसार, विराट कोहली ने अपने टेस्ट करियर का अंत उस समय किया जब वह इस प्रारूप में 10 हजार रन पूरे करने से केवल 770 रन दूर थे। हालांकि कपिल देव का मानना है कि यह केवल रिकॉर्ड या आंकड़ों का विषय नहीं था, बल्कि देश के लिए कुछ और समय तक खेलने का अवसर था, जिसे वह आगे भी निभा सकते थे।
कपिल देव ने एक खेल कार्यक्रम में बातचीत के दौरान कहा कि यदि विराट कुछ समय और खुद को संभालते और परिस्थितियों को थोड़ा समय देते तो शायद भारतीय टीम के लिए आगे भी खेल सकते थे। उनका कहना था कि एक बार जब कोई खिलाड़ी भारत के लिए खेलना छोड़ देता है, तो फिर उसे दोबारा वही अवसर आसानी से नहीं मिलता हैं।
गौरतलब है कि विराट कोहली ने अपने संन्यास के पीछे यह कारण बताया था कि वह लगातार खुद को साबित करने के दबाव में नहीं रहना चाहते थे। उनका मानना था कि अपने लंबे करियर में उन्होंने जो हासिल किया, उसके बाद लगातार खुद को साबित करने की मानसिक स्थिति से बाहर निकलना जरूरी था।
हालांकि कपिल देव ने खिलाड़ियों को सलाह देते हुए कहा कि चयनकर्ताओं या टीम प्रबंधन से मतभेद होने पर भावनाओं में आकर करियर से जुड़े बड़े फैसले नहीं लेने चाहिए। उन्होंने भारतीय क्रिकेट के पूर्व खिलाड़ियों मोहिंदर अमरनाथ और अंशुमान गायकवाड़ का उदाहरण देते हुए कहा कि दोनों खिलाड़ियों ने टीम से बाहर होने के बाद घरेलू क्रिकेट में शानदार प्रदर्शन किया और फिर राष्ट्रीय टीम में वापसी की थीं।
कपिल देव ने यह भी कहा कि यदि किसी खिलाड़ी को टीम से बाहर कर दिया जाए तो उसे निराश होने के बजाय और अधिक मेहनत करनी चाहिए। उनका मानना है कि अच्छा प्रदर्शन हर खिलाड़ी को दोबारा मौका दिला सकता है और यही खेल की सबसे बड़ी खूबसूरती भी है।
बता दें कि विराट कोहली के टेस्ट भविष्य को लेकर सवाल ऑस्ट्रेलिया दौरे के बाद और तेज हो गए थे। उस श्रृंखला में उन्होंने शुरुआत शतक से की थी, लेकिन बाद के मुकाबलों में निरंतरता नहीं रख सके थे। इसके बाद उन्होंने घरेलू क्रिकेट में भी हिस्सा लिया, जिससे माना जा रहा था कि वह टेस्ट क्रिकेट जारी रखेंगे। लेकिन बाद में उन्होंने इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग के दौरान अचानक टेस्ट क्रिकेट से संन्यास की घोषणा कर दी थीं।
कपिल देव ने विराट की आक्रामक शैली की भी खुलकर तारीफ की। उन्होंने कहा कि विराट उन्हें टेनिस के दिग्गज खिलाड़ी जॉन मैकनरो की याद दिलाते हैं। उनके अनुसार कुछ खिलाड़ी अपनी आक्रामक मानसिकता और चुनौतीपूर्ण रवैये के साथ ही सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन करते हैं। वहीं राहुल द्रविड़, सुनील गावस्कर और सचिन तेंदुलकर जैसे खिलाड़ियों का स्वभाव इससे बिल्कुल अलग था, क्योंकि वे अपने खेल से जवाब देना पसंद करते थे।
कपिल देव का मानना है कि यदि विराट कोहली को लगता है कि उनका जोशीला और आक्रामक अंदाज उनके प्रदर्शन को बेहतर बनाता है तो उसमें कोई गलत बात नहीं है। हालांकि उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि कई बार थोड़ा संयम भी खिलाड़ी के लिए फायदेमंद साबित हो सकता है। फिलहाल विराट कोहली भले ही टेस्ट क्रिकेट से दूर हो चुके हों, लेकिन भारतीय क्रिकेट में उनके योगदान और उपलब्धियों को हमेशा याद किया जाता रहेगा और उनके संन्यास पर चर्चा लंबे समय तक होती रहेगी।
