मेजर लीग क्रिकेट 2026 में रविवार को ऐसा मुकाबला देखने को मिला, जिसने रिकॉर्ड बुक के कई पन्ने बदल दिए। वॉशिंगटन फ्रीडम के बल्लेबाज मिशेल ओवेन ने टूर्नामेंट के इतिहास की सबसे बड़ी व्यक्तिगत पारी खेली, जबकि एमआई न्यूयॉर्क के कप्तान कायरान पोलार्ड मेंस टी20 क्रिकेट में सबसे ज्यादा रन बनाने वाले बल्लेबाज बन गए।
पहले बल्लेबाजी करते हुए वॉशिंगटन फ्रीडम को मिशेल ओवेन ने तूफानी शुरुआत दिलाई। उन्होंने शुरुआत से ही आक्रामक तेवर दिखाए और सिर्फ 41 गेंदों में शतक पूरा कर लिया। उस समय तक उनके बल्ले से 9 छक्के निकल चुके थे। ओवेन की बल्लेबाजी इतनी तूफानी थी कि एक समय ऐसा लग रहा था कि वह क्रिस गेल के टी20 क्रिकेट में 175 रन के सर्वोच्च व्यक्तिगत स्कोर का रिकॉर्ड भी तोड़ सकते।
ओवेन ने 68 गेंदों में 155 रन की शानदार पारी खेली, जिसमें चौकों और छक्कों की बारिश देखने को मिली। उन्होंने 100 से 150 रन तक का सफर सिर्फ 20 गेंदों में पूरा किया। हालांकि 17वें ओवर में उनका विकेट गिर गया और इसके बाद एमआई न्यूयॉर्क के गेंदबाजों ने वापसी की। वॉशिंगटन फ्रीडम आखिरी 6 ओवर में सिर्फ 36 रन ही जोड़ सकी, लेकिन फिर भी टीम ने 246 रन का विशाल स्कोर खड़ा कर दिया।
247 रन के लक्ष्य का पीछा करने उतरी एमआई न्यूयॉर्क की शुरुआत बेहद खराब रही। पहले ही ओवर में दोनों ओपनर पवेलियन लौट गए। ग्लेन मैक्सवेल ने मोनांक पटेल को आउट किया, जबकि क्विंटन डिकॉक रन आउट हो गए। इसके बाद निकोलस पूरन का विकेट भी गिर गया और टीम 22 रन पर 3 विकेट गंवा चुकी थी।
एमआई न्यूयॉर्क का स्कोर एक समय 64/5 हो गया था। यहां से कप्तान पोलार्ड ने मोर्चा संभाला। उन्होंने पहले रोमारियो शेफर्ड के साथ 70 रन की साझेदारी की और फिर कॉर्बिन बॉश के साथ नाबाद 81 रन जोड़कर टीम को सम्मानजनक स्कोर तक पहुंचाया।
पोलार्ड ने 56 गेंदों में नाबाद 100 रन बनाए। उनकी पारी में 11 चौके और 4 छक्के शामिल रहे। इसी दौरान उन्होंने एक बड़ा रिकॉर्ड भी अपने नाम कर लिया। 19वें ओवर की पहली गेंद पर छक्का लगाते ही पोलार्ड ने टी20 क्रिकेट में अपने कुल रन 14567 तक पहुंचा दिए और क्रिस गेल (14562 रन) को पीछे छोड़ दिया। हालांकि एमआई न्यूयॉर्क मैच हार गई। लेकिन यह मुकाबला मिशेल ओवेन की ऐतिहासिक पारी और पोलार्ड के रिकॉर्डतोड़ शतक के लिए लंबे समय तक याद रखा जाएगा।
